Up River, Down River (Long Version)
Also called, "Up River Without A Paddle"
Based on the slightly simpler "Up River Down River" game, Up River Without A Paddle adds four additional phases.
You need a deck of cards, and one person is designated the dealer. The dealer participates as a player, and thus should not be able to see un-dealt cards throughout the game.
Round 1 - Proceeding clockwise (left) from the dealer, each player is asked to guess red or black.
If correct, the player gives out a number of drinks equal to the card (all face cards are worth 10., aces are considered low)
If incorrect, the player drinks that many.
Round 2 – Each player is asked to guess higher or lower than their previous card. Again a correct answer gives the new cards worth of drinks, and incorrect answer takes that many.
Round 3 – Each player guesses between or outside of their first two cards. (For example, if they already have a 4 and a Jack, a Queen would be outside, while a 7 would be inside.
In rounds 2 and 3 a card that matches an existing card is considered an unavoidable incorrect answer.
Round 4 – Each player guesses a suit.
Now the dealer places 8 cards face down in two columns on the table, and declares one column the "give" column, and one column the "take" column.
A final "kill card" is placed at the end of the two columns.
Beginning with the "give" column, the dealer flips over a card. If any player has that value card (suits don’t matter here) they give that many drinks.
The dealer then flips a card from the "take" column, if any player has that value card they take that many.
When all 8 cards have been flipped, the final kill card is up-turned. Any player with that value card must immediately finish whatever beverage they have in front of them.
